The Sacred Ordinary 🌧️✨
Last night, while thunder rolled across the Midwestern sky and rain danced against the windows, something extraordinary happened.
A tiny dragonfly flew into our home. 🪽

Not a large dragonfly gliding effortlessly over a pond, but a newly emerged one—small, delicate, its wings still looking impossibly fresh. It didn’t frantically search for a way back outside. Instead, it settled quietly on the wooden trim beside a window, resting peacefully at the threshold between the storm outside and the sanctuary within.
I simply sat with it.
And smiled.
For those who know my work, you’ll understand why.
Gene Key 20—The Dragonfly’s Dream—is my Design (Red) Sun.
In Human Design, the Design Sun represents something deeper than personality. It speaks to the frequency our body came here to embody. It is the quiet current beneath our conscious identity—the song our incarnation sings.
Gene Key 20 unfolds through the path of:
Superficiality → Self-Assurance → Presence 🌿
Not presence as another spiritual practice.
Not presence as something to achieve.
Presence as a way of inhabiting this life.
Presence as incarnation itself.
✨
Dragonflies are extraordinary creatures.
They spend the vast majority of their lives beneath the surface of the water, unseen, quietly growing.
Then one day…
They climb.
They leave the only world they’ve ever known.
They shed what no longer belongs to them.
And they discover the sky.
Not because they became something different.
But because they revealed what they had always been capable of becoming.
How many of us spend years believing we’re still underwater?
Healing.
Preparing.
Learning.
Searching.
Waiting for permission to finally become who we truly are.
Perhaps awakening isn’t about becoming someone new.
Perhaps awakening is remembering who we’ve always been. 🪽
✨
As I watched this tiny dragonfly resting beside the window, another layer revealed itself.
It hadn’t arrived on a calm summer afternoon.
It came during a storm.
Storms have a way of demanding our attention. They invite urgency, fear, distraction, and reaction.
Yet this little messenger wasn’t fighting the storm.
It wasn’t trying to control it.
It simply found a place of stillness.
It rested on the threshold.
Neither outside.
Nor hidden away.
Simply…
Present.
🌧️🪽
There is something profoundly beautiful about that image.
How often do we believe peace will come after life settles down?
After the grief.
After the uncertainty.
After the house repairs.
After the body heals.
After the answers finally arrive.
But Presence doesn’t wait for perfect weather.
Presence quietly whispers,
“I am here.”
✨
Looking back over these past weeks, I realize one word has been weaving itself through nearly everything:
Threshold.
I’ve been creating a devotional strand with threshold beads.
I’ve been blessing my mother’s ashes crossing into my home.
I’ve been tending my body with greater reverence.
I’ve been deepening my practice as a devotional animist—learning to participate with the living world instead of simply observing it.
And then…
A tiny dragonfly crossed my threshold.
Not as proof.
Not as certainty.
Not because I needed convincing.
But as a quiet invitation.
An invitation to inhabit this moment more completely.
To trust that transformation doesn’t begin after the storm has passed.
Sometimes transformation arrives while the thunder is still rolling overhead.
✨
Perhaps that is the true Dragonfly’s Dream.
Not escaping the world.
Not transcending our humanity.
But becoming so fully present that the ordinary begins to shimmer with the sacred.
Because maybe awakening doesn’t happen somewhere else.
Maybe it arrives on transparent wings…
…and gently reminds us that we’ve already climbed the reed.
Now…
It is simply time to fly. 🪽
🌿 Reflection
Where in your life are you waiting for the storm to end before allowing yourself to fully arrive?
What threshold are you standing upon today?
I’d love to hear your reflections in the comments. Has the living world ever met you in a way that felt deeply personal or symbolic? I’d be honored to hear your story. 🌿✨
With devotion and wonder,
🕯️🖤🐉🪶✨
