Somewhere along the way, we were sold a very strange lie.

That if we were really healed,
really evolved,
really spiritual…

we would be calm at all times, grateful under pressure, and capable of “holding space” while our insides were actively on fire.

Plot twist:
Your nervous system did not sign up to be a saint.

It signed up to keep you alive.

So no—your anxiety is not a lack of faith.
Your shutdown is not spiritual regression.
Your irritation does not mean you “failed the lesson.”

It means your body is speaking.

And frankly?
She’s been whispering politely for a very long time.


🪞 When Spiritual Bypass Wears a Halo

Let’s talk about the subtle cruelty of phrases like:

  • “Just stay in a high vibration.”
  • “Everything happens for a reason.”
  • “Have you tried being more grateful?”
  • “Your soul chose this.”

Ah yes.
Nothing soothes a dysregulated nervous system quite like existential gaslighting.

Sometimes what you’re feeling isn’t a lesson.
It’s a limit.

And limits are not weaknesses.
They are wisdom with boundaries.


🕯️ A Tiny Sacred Snark Ritual

No altar required. No crystals harmed.

  1. Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly.
  2. Take one slow breath (that’s it—no marathon).
  3. Say aloud or internally:
    “This response makes sense.”

That’s the ritual.
That’s the prayer.
That’s the whole damn sermon.

  • Where have I mistaken regulation for righteousness?
  • What response in me has been asking for compassion instead of correction?
  • What would it look like to honor my capacity without spiritualizing my exhaustion?

🌿 Closing Thoughts

You are not broken because your body reacts.
You are not unawakened because you need rest.
You are not “less evolved” because your system says enough.

Sometimes the most sacred act is not transcendence—
it’s tending the human who showed up to live this life.

And sometimes the holiest word in the room is simply:

Nope.
