I created this blend in response to today’s tragedies, not for my ancestors but for strangers whose lives — and the lives of those who loved them — were forever changed. These are the threads I chose to weave into the oil, not as absolutes, but as the meanings that rose up for me:

*Rose* — I chose rose as the heart because, to me, grief is love unveiled. Even when I do not know the names, I can still send love into the loss.
* Cypress*— I added cypress because it feels like a sentinel. To me it stands at the threshold between life and death and reminds me to hold the space with dignity.
*Juniper* — I included this for its purifying and protective energy. My intention was to keep the collective grief from turning into despair, and to remember resilience.
*Mugwort* — I felt called to bring in an herb of prayer and communal healing. For me, it symbolizes grief being lifted together, not carried alone.
*Frankincense* — I added frankincense because it always feels like a prayer rising. My intention was to offer the grief, not just hold it in silence.
*Clove* — Finally, a touch of fire. I chose it as a spark of remembrance and justice, so that loss might also become a call to compassion.

This blend is my way of lighting a candle for strangers I’ll never meet but whose absence / pain ripples through us all. It is my way of responding to a moment of national mourning.

I know that even small acts of love and kindness can and do make a big difference.

Until Next Time,
