A Devotional Unfolding
Awareness is the candle.
Intention is the match.
But subconscious patterns?
They are the windswept room where both were once lit and left unattended.
Subconscious patterns are intentional, just not consciously.
They come from the deep.
Inherited. Imprinted. Practiced.
Like grooves in a record, they repeat the melody we forgot we agreed to hum.

But the moment awareness enters…
We pause the song.
We hold the needle.
We notice the music instead of becoming it.
This is where alchemical magic begins:
When the soul turns toward its own reflexes and asks,
“Do I still choose this?”
🔍 Jungian Reflection | The Reflex That Remembers
Carl Jung taught that the shadow is not merely what we repress—but what remains unconscious.
It is neither good nor evil. It simply is, waiting to be named, reclaimed, re-chosen.
So when the soul turns toward its own reflexes and asks:
“Do I still choose this?”
…it’s not just breaking a cycle.
It’s initiating a dialogue with the unconscious.
These reflexes—those old scripts, inherited rules, compulsions, even our silences—were once choices made in a different time, often by someone else entirely (a parent, an ancestor, a culture, a child-you).
But now, awareness flickers.
And with it, a choice to witness instead of repeat.
To converse instead of condemn.
To integrate rather than exile.
The magic is not in perfection.
It’s in the pause.
That sacred breath between reflex and response…
That’s where the alchemist lives!

A Few Reflections to Deepen the Inquiry:
- Subconscious patterns as ancestral intentions: What were they protecting you from? What were they trying to create?
- Conscious awareness as a form of reverence: Can noticing without immediate action still be sacred?
- When you became aware of something—but still repeated it: Was that failure, or a rehearsal?
Journal Prompts:
- What’s one pattern I’ve repeated without consciously choosing it?
- When did I first realize it was a pattern—and what did that moment feel like?
- What deeper longing or unspoken fear might this pattern be carrying?
- If I met that part of myself as a character, what would they say their role is?
- What would it mean for my intention to be in conversation with my subconscious—not in opposition to it?

A Soul Scroll Affirmation:
I honor the part of me that meant well in the dark.
I bring no shame to the pattern—only curiosity.
Where awareness meets intention,
I become the author again.
I become the spell.
🔮 Invitation:
Notice your next automatic response—no judgment.
Just whisper to it:
“You helped me survive. But do I still choose you?”
If you feel called, write it down.
Name the pattern.
Ask it where it began.
And then, with intention, offer it a new form.
The spell is not in the fire.
It’s in the remembering.
Until next time,
